You know the poem —
People come into your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime.
When you figure out which one it is, you will know what to do for each person…..
Well, how often do we start something around the house which leads to another ‘project’ which leads to, you guessed it — a kitchen renovation! We don’t need to figure out the reason or why all of a sudden there’s a realization that your kitchen looks ‘old’ or that you are tired of crawling into that awkward cupboard in the corner to reach your roasting pan. There’s a line we cross in our busy lives when we realize (especially if we like to cook!) that not only do we deserve a ‘new kitchen’ that the investment itself can pay off even years down the road. The adage of ‘you get what you pay for’ rings true when it comes to investing in major items for your home.
The kitchen space in newly designed homes is the starting point for most — we wish to entertain and enjoy the cooking experience with friends and family nearby. We are mindful of the work zones so that the ‘cook’ doesn’t have to be the only one closed off in the kitchen doing all the work.
Kitchen spaces can be designed for many reasons. To look good — to function — and more importantly, to serve many purposes of diverse family needs. Wouldn’t it be nice to scooch up to an island with our laptop, work away and still be engaged in what’s happening around us with our family’s comings and goings?
We work on many homes 25+ years old. We see how the kitchen space was originally set aside as the cast off space on the first floor by many builders. Opening up walls may take away the opportunity to place cabinetry on them but it also provides the opportunity to get creative with planning how better to utilize the entire space for how we live today.
A design consultation is the first step in planning your updated kitchen, what are you waiting for, another season?
